The Dustite LR® is the ideal combination of a loose wheel nut indicator and a standard dust cap. The Dustite LR® (Long Reach) is for use on vehicles with trims on the wheels. Similar to the Checkpoint®, the Dustite LR® also indicates where there is a loosening of a wheel nut, also including the overheating function. This product does however have more to offer, protecting the wheel nut from corrosion, weathering and general road damage.

The Dustite LR® has quickly become a core product in the Checkpoint Safety Range and is therefore in high demand globally. Including various specifications for all of Western Europe, South America, North America, Australasia, Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, with increasing popularity in Northern Africa and Eastern Europe. Available in a range of sizes, the Dustite LR® aims to cover a wide scope of applications throughout military, agricultural, industrial, commercial vehicle and mining sectors, amongst many others.

The primary functions of Dustite LR® are to:

·      Provide a clear visual indication of nut movement, particularly useful and applicable for commercial vehicle wheels even where an obstructive wheel trim exists

·      Provide an indication of wheel overheating which is otherwise difficult to detect, usually as a result of brakes sticking or problems with the bearings, through the use of specific product material melting points (Standard and High Temperature options available)

·      Provide a clear visual commitment to roadworthiness and professionalism to other road users, customers, health and safety, road and transportation associations such as DFT, HMRC Customs and Excise, VOSA, HSE, FTA and RHA

·      Prolong the service life of studs & nuts, through protection from corrosion, weathering and damage.

Additional information

The Dustite LR® design is intended for use on vehicles that have wheels with trims/step rings. The pointer, which is located at the tip of the product, allows the Dustite Long Reach to access the hole on a trim/step ring. In cases where the wheel is not fitted with trims/step rings, the Checkpoint® and Dustite® are suitable. The Dustite LR® is fitted in a recognizable pattern onto the wheel nuts once the wheel nuts are tightened to the manufacturers recommendations. These then need close monitoring to ensure that there are no changes to the recognizable pattern. If there are any changes to the pattern, appropriate action can be taken.

The Dustite LR® is available in Standard and High Temperature (HT), both of which are manufactured with the highest quality virgin polymers, thus making this product resistant to water/moisture, oil, road salt, detergents and most other contaminants/solvents.

The integrated design of the Dustite LR® fully encloses wheel nuts manufactured to ISO, DIN, or the BS standards that cover Spigot, Captive Washer, Conical, or Spherical seating wheel nuts.

Dustite LR® is sized by the corresponding measurement (in millimetres) across the flats of the hexagonal nut fitting. Current sizes available* include (in mm):

17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 27 - Mini-Dustite® (shorter barrel, no skirt)

30, 32, 33 - Standard model Dustite LR®

The standard colours for Dustite LR® are Fluoro Yellow and Red, however other colours are stocked in our large warehouse and as such, subject to stock levels and/or minimum order quantity, the following are also available*:

Silver Grey, Black, Drab Olive Grey, Blue, Orange and Solid Yellow.

*Other colours can be made available subject to a high minimum order quantity.

The Dustite LR® is made from the same high quality material as the Checkpoint® and is available in Standard and High Temperature. The Standard has a melting point of 125˚C. The High Temperature (HT) has a melting point of 165˚C, subject to minimum quantity orders.
